WHAT’S ON in Quirindi – March/April 2014

March 27: Colourfest – Australia’s Multicultural Film Festival

In recognition of Harmony Day 2014, Quirindi Library is screening six short films celebrating diversity and inclusion. The event starts at 11am and will be followed by morning tea. All the movies are suitable for kids and entry is FREE! RSVP to Quirindi Library.

March 29-30: Royal Theatre Movie Weekend

The Quirindi Royal Theatre on Henry Street is operated by local volunteers, and the Liverpool Plains Shire Council and community have worked tirelessly to restore this lovely historical icon to its former glory. Movies are shown every second weekend for $10 – this week, see the comedy ‘Last Vegas’ or the Oscar-winning ‘Dallas Buyers Club’.

April 12: QUOTA Markets

Held on the 2nd Saturday of each month from 8am to 1pm at Rose Lee Park in Loder Street, Quirindi, these markets offer a wide range of local fruit and veg, plants, baked goods, hand-made crafts and bric-a-brac.

April 17: Quirindi Poultry Club Easter Raffle

Come to the Marshall McMahon Hotel in Wallabadah to win great prizes with a spin of the Chocolate Wheel! This fun annual event kicks off at 6pm with FREE entertainment and sausage sizzle for the whole family.

April 24-27: Willow Tree Sheepdog Trial

It’s been said that a good farm dog is worth ten hired hands…and if you’ve never seen working dogs in action, you’re missing out! Get down to the Willow Tree Recreation Ground to enjoy the competition between these skillfully trained animals. Entry is FREE from 7am each day with food available on-site. Trial dog nominations need to be in by 18th April.

April 25: ANZAC Day – services and marches across the region

Quirindi: Dawn Service at 5:30am at the Memorial Clock in George St followed by breakfast at the RSL, or meet at Quirindi Post Office to march to the clock for the midday service.

Werris Creek: Dawn Service at 6am at the Werris Creek War Memorial, or meet at 10:45am at Coronation Avenue to march to the 11am War Memorial Service.

Willow Tree: Meet at the Willow Tree Inn at 8:30am to march to the Memorial Hall Service at 9am, with morning tea provided afterward.

Currabubula: 9am Service at the Currabubula War Memorial Hall, followed by morning tea.

April 27: Quirindi Hospital Auxiliary Pet Show

The show will run from 10:30am – 2:30pm in Rose Lee Park, featuring market stalls, a BBQ lunch and pets galore. Bring along your furry, scaly or feathered friends and have fun while raising funds for the Auxiliary’s great work supporting the local Quirindi Hospital and Health Service.
