What’s on in Quirindi – October 2014

We’ve got heaps of things to do this month in the Quirindi region for the whole family. Read on for our monthly roundup of fun days out, community events and more.

11 Oct: Movies at the Royal Theatre
This weekend’s screenings include the new Woody Allen movie Magic in the Moonlight starring Colin Firth and Emma Stone, and the Australian crime flick Felony. The Royal is a lovely venue and worth a visit simply to experience the restored heritage theatre, run by local volunteers. Tickets are $10 for adults and $7 for  kids under 12 – make a habit of a night out at the movies and every 6th film is free! The theatre also host regular ‘Mums & Bubs Movies’ – this month’s selection is Planes: Fire and Rescue at 10am on 23 October.

15 Oct: Rotary Dinner – Quirindi Conversations
Join Jennifer Ingall at the Royal Theatre on Henry Street from 6:30pm as she interviews local achievers Jacqui Barnes, Fiona Simpson and Ray Kelly “Australian Story”-style. Storyteller Sandy Thorne will also be launching her new book “Living Legends” at this event. Call Rob Lewis on 0447 627 695 for more info or to book.

25 Oct: Wallabadah Flower Show
The theme of “Farm Families” will run through this year’s Flower Show, where local flowers, cakes and art will be on display from 10am at the Wallabadah Community Hall on Martyn St. There will be entertainment and refreshments throughout the day.

25 Oct: Veducci Fashion Parade
The Willow Tree Preschool are holding a fundraising fashion show with Australian clothing company Veducci at the Willow Tree Inn’s Grain Store Bistro. RSVP to Mel on 6747 1440 by 20 October – tickets are $50 per person which includes the fashion show from 12pm and a two-course meal, with all proceeds going to benefit the Willow Tree Preschool.

31 Oct: Quirindi Rural Heritage Village Art Show
Located at the Rural Heritage Village on Gunnedah Road, this exhibition hosts the work of local artists from 10am-4pm every Friday, Saturday and Sunday for a month from 31 October. During your visit be sure to check out the fascinating exhibits in the Village Museum or pop into the coffee shop for afternoon tea.
